As anyone who watched the previous seasons will know, the television show chronicles King Henry VIII's reign and his six wives, along with the political, religious and sexual scheming that surrounded them.
Having Jonathan Rhys Meyers as the 16th Century British King with his arms outstretched in the shape of the cross helps evoke the religious connotations of the series, with the conflict between the Catholic Church and the Church of England. The accompanying imagery of his six wives lined up on either side behind him is a fitting way to bring the series to a close, as the final season will tell the story on his last two wives, Katherine Howard and Catherine Parr, and his ultimate descent into madness.
