Damages season three TV billboard...

This striking billboard for the third season of the TV show Damages, starring Glenn Close and Rose Byrne, is fantastically simplistic, yet extremely effective at catching your eye as you drive along Sunset Boulevard in L.A.

The billboard was snapped on January 17, 2010.

Sherlock Holmes movie billboard...

This is one of the great (and largest) building billboard sites in L.A. on the corner of West Sunset Boulevard and Ivar Avenue. Appropriately it's on the side of the Los Angeles Film School and just before the Cinerama Dome and ArcLight Hollywood cinema, so a great location to publicise new movies.

I like this billboard as it's such a simple, yet confident image of Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. I'm glad to say that the movie lived up to the bravado of the billboard.

True Blood season one TV billboard...

Who knew vampires would be so popular these last few years? We've had two Twilight movies and True Blood and The Vampire Diaries on TV. I wonder what vampire-themed fare will be next.

For now enjoy this truly eye-catching and intriguing billboard for the first raunchy season of True Blood that was photographed on Sunset Boulevard on August 15, 2008.

Optimus Prime Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen movie billboard...

This larger-than-life movie billboard features 'robot-in-disguise' Autobot leader Optimus Prime from the Transformers sequel, Revenge of the Fallen.

The billboard was photographed on Sunset Boulevard on May 31, 2009.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull film billboard...

Even though the film may have been a disappointing fourth installment in the movie franchise (especially after all those long years of waiting), I think the advertising campaign still managed to capture the adventurous spirit of Indiana Jones.

This billboard was photographed in L.A. on May 11, 2008 and the movie opened later that month in the U.S.A. on May 22, 2008.

Emporio Armani underwear billboard...

There's something for everyone in this billboard, whether you like buff men or sexy women, or both.

This advertisement in mono for Emporio Armani underwear featuring David and Victoria Beckham (aka 'Posh' Spice), was snapped on Sunset Boulevard in L.A. on October 5, 2009.

I love how hard Posh seems to be trying to be a model, bless her.

Alice in Wonderland movie billboard...

I like how this giant billboard is surreally bursting out of the side of the building to publicise Tim Burton's no doubt unique interpretation of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland for Disney.

The creative features Johnny Depp as The Mad Hatter and was photographed on Sunset Boulevard in L.A. on January 17, 2010.

The movie opens in the U.S.A. on March 5, 2010.

Legion movie billboard...

Unfortunately this is a case of great billboard, but not so good movie.

This eye-catching poster site features a buff Paul Bettany as the fallen archangel, Michael, in the new apocalyptic fantasy-horror film 'Legion'.

Traditionally January isn't a big time for new cinematic film releases, so this billboard has a chance to really stand out amongst L.A.'s usually crowded city skyline. I love how the wings break free of the standard billboards dimensions.

The film opened in the U.S.A. on January 22, 2010 and the billboard was photographed on Highland Avenue on January 5, 2010.

Entourage season five TV billboard...

I chose this billboard to kick off things here at the Daily Billboard as it holds a special significance for me.

I actually saw Adrian Grenier, Jeremy Piven and the rest of the Entourage cast during the photo-shoot for this promotional campaign for season five of the popular TV show. They were striding down the middle of the traffic as I drove past on Santa Monica Boulevard.

Imagine my surprise a couple of months later when I looked up to see this image adorning the skies of Sunset Boulevard on August 15, 2008.
